Meaning Of Time In This Pandemic

Every time I think of being productive, I am unable to execute it. And this makes me feel low and helpless about myself. I am sure a lot of us are going through this phase.

One of the founding fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, once said, “You may delay, but time will not”. We are all aware of this, but we often shrug off this thought without giving it due attention. This pandemic has provided us with ample time since we are all locked in our homes.

The end of this pandemic is up in the air. So, let us not miss the opportunity that is never going to knock our doors again. Some people are using this chance to enhance their skills or learn something new, and some of them are not even making an effort to utilise this precious time.

Here, in this blog, I express before you, my thoughts on the importance of time, and I hope this acts as a guiding light for you.

“Time is what we want the most and what we use the worst”-William Penn.
To make it easier for you to understand, I have created an acronym of TIME :

T- Thankfulness
I- Inspiration
M- Meeting Myself
E- Exercise

Thankfulness

I believe if you are reading this, you might have a home to shelter you, do not have to worry about the next meal, have some clothes to wear, and few people who care for you. Congratulations! You do not belong among the 734 million people around the world who are uncertain about their survival for the next day.

Yes, human wants are unlimited, but you can always be thankful for whatever you have and improvise them to create more. I have been following the process of gratitude for the last couple of months, and it has helped me to a great extent.

The blanket of negativity has wrapped the world. Hence, we should bore a hole in and look up to constructive thoughts. We all should stay positive and should imbibe thankfulness within ourselves.

Secondly, what I feel is if you practice this for a couple of days, you eventually will start seeing the difference in yourself and sense the positive charge in your body. It will enhance your mental health which, indirectly solves a lot of other issues that you face regularly.

Inspiration

This word holds a lot of gravity in it and holds a special place in my life. It has made me what I am today. Earlier, I was someone who didn’t have any major goals in life and also lacked the enthusiasm to do anything concrete that would impact my future, but ultimately, I got inspired by one of my mentors, and it changed everything.

I think even a small inspiration can be someone’s driving force to excellence. A simple thought is all it takes, to convert one’s passion into a profession that is if you find someone or something that inspires you.

Meeting Yourself

We often hear people saying, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me?” or, “I can’t figure out things.” It is because of the lack of introspection and knowledge about yourself. Such thoughts dive into our minds because everyone is running a rat race where they have lost their individuality.

So, take some time out of your busy day and invest it in understanding yourself. Hence, meeting yourself is like a self-audit which can help you understand and fix the loopholes.

In my opinion, in this lockdown, one should try to know more about themselves and less about others. You can do this by meditating, although you don’t see the importance of meditation now, I urge you to give it a try and, you will see the magic yourself

Exercise

Exercise has a lot of benefits. It energizes your body and most importantly, helps you keep your thinking, learning, and judgment skills sharp as you age. Now, we all know that, don’t we? But it is only human nature to not execute habits which are healthy for us.

I am not saying that everyone should work out, or hit the gym or buy expensive and elaborate equipment. You could start with some basic exercises and keep your body moving. After all, it’s always better to start with something rather than doing nothing. So, start today!

Now, I leave you with a thought, that time is something that we can’t control but what we can do is use it wisely. This pandemic has given all of us sufficient time and, now it is up to you whether you want to employ it productively or let it go to waste!
